What a piece of happiness looks like

It was a quiet night.

The sky was partly cloudy, but the stars were shining through.

The Florida atmosphere kept us warm, while the cool breeze blew through the air (although the breeze kept the heat at bay).

We were laying on our backs in the sand listening to either Post Malone or some country song, while the ocean's waves crashed in the background.

That night, the three of us talked about anything and everything that came to our minds. Whether it was something about all of our long-distant relationships, school, missing home, or life here. It was talked about.

And that night is what a piece of happiness looks like.

We didn't have a care in the world.

We splashed around in the water.

We sang loud and obnoxiously to some Taylor Swift.

We laughed super annoyingly.

And yet, we didn't have a care in the world.

In that moment, we didn't care who heard us.

We didn't care who saw us.

We were living.

We were living, together.

We were living a night that was long overdue, that all three of us needed.

And it was what a piece of happiness looked like.

Staring up into the sky, laying in the sand with two of my new and closest friends, talking about whatever, singing to whoever, and just being ourselves.

The sky cleared up, allowing the starry sky to light up the beach.

The moon cast across the ocean's horizon, lighting up the waves.

And for a quick moment, amongst all of our demons, there was what looked like, a single piece of happiness.
