five things

five things

well hello there!

i know it's been awhile, but i'm finally back (for now).

so much has been going on in my life since graduation and it feels like i've been going, going, and going non-stop. in all honesty, i knew i wasn't putting much effort into the kinkaid journals and have been so pre-occupied that i didn't really care!

but now i'm back and promise to be much more active.

in saying that, a while ago i did a "5 things" post where i put five of the most random/odd/exciting things that had happened recently in my life, things i was currently loving, or things that were about to happen in my life. i found it so much easier to talk about different things all at once.

so, that's what i'm going to do today.

let's get started (-:

5 things

fashion: sundresses

first things first, i'm absolutely loving sundresses right now. they're literally one of the simplest (and cutest!) pieces of clothing to have ever been made. sundresses can be worn to country concerts, out to a nice dinner, or just hanging around. they can also be super affordable (depending on where you get them at). pictured above is a black off-the-shoulder sundress and is actually one of my current favorites. this sundress falls right between my knee and the middle of my thigh, has cap sleeves with frills at the bottom, and is loose but doesn't look like a sack. i've worn this dress probably a thousand times already, lol. fun fact: i never used to like dresses, absolutely hated them, until this summer!

upcoming: college

as some of you may know, this fall i'll be moving to florida to further my education, yay! and in less than a month, i'm actually leaving for florida! since the beginning of the month, i've been busily getting myself ready for the move. i've been in contact with my roommates, buying dorm decor/supplies, choosing my classes, and anything else people do to prepare for college, i've been doing. it's been a huge bittersweet whirlwind. as i get closer to the day i leave, the whirlwind keeps growing bitter, but then i'm reminded about this wonderful new adventure i'm about to take and the whirlwind becomes sweet again.

upcoming travels: california

so i've been to about twenty-seven out of fifty states in america, but never have i ever been to the west coast! and in just a few days, i'll be on a five-hour plane ride headed to california!!! i'm so excited, i've wanted to go to california for so long, and it's even better that i get to go with my family. in just a few days i will be on a plane heading to california, and i'm so excited! i'm looking forward to hiking up to see the hollywood sign, swimming in the pacific ocean, visiting venice beach, driving down rodeo drive, and disneyland! i'll of course write one or two posts about this trip, so keep a look out!

summer book: hillbilly elegy by J.D. vance

okay, let me first start off by saying i was dreading being sent this book from my college. i hate required readings, and in all honesty this book didn't seem interest at all. now let me say, i'm glad it's a required reading. now i'm not done with the book yet, but i do 9/10 recommend picking this book up. it's quite an interesting read. i'm not telling too much about it, as i don't want to give anything away.

now: summer 2017

i'm going to be completely honest, summer 2017 has literally been the best summer i've ever had. i've traveled to a lot of cool/new/interesting places (miami, italy, the florida keys, and i'm about to travel to california), i've met an incredible person named alex, in a way i've started college (i'm taking an online course through flagler) i've made amazing and unforgettable memories with awesome people, and i'm just living my life to the absolute fullest. i know that sounds super cliché, but it's true.

well, that's it folks!

have a great thursday, you're so close to the weekend!

xoxo,
l.k

happy friday loves!!!

i hope everyone had a great day, and today will lead into a perfect weekend.

today was officially my last day in high school (hey, now i'll stop talking about how bittersweet it is, lol), and it honestly hit me as i was driving home. i was blasting my music, windows down and just thinking about everything (crazy right?).

and very quickly, and quietly, the thought about what i was going to do next week crept into my mind. that's when i realized that high school is over. i don't have school next week. it's honestly just so crazy thinking about it.

a short twelve years ago, i was walking through the doors of my elementary, school starting my education and today i walked out of the doors of my high school for the last time, ending my education.

but, it was a good day. my school held a senior picnic during/after lunch and it was fun. i got to hang out with all my friends for one of the last times before college, eating burgers, taking pictures, and laughing about the year we had.

now, enough of my rambling--back to the post!

i'm currently loving this romper! i mean, i love rompers in general, but this is one of my favorites. i love the vintage look it has. personally, the mauve-pink color and flowers really pull the the outfit together.
i was pointing at my future lol (but for real i was pointing at my dad who was laughing at me for posing haha)
i also really like this romper, because my blonde hair blends really well with the color. soo basically if i look good in an outfit, it's a favorite lol!

and of course i'm wearing my favorite strappy sandals! american rag has the best shoes ever. i plan to wear these shoes when i go out of the country next week, and they're going to do phenomenally. they tie in the back, so they don't rub my ankle. they're cute, while simple. safe to say, these sandals are one of my favorites.

hope everyone has a great weekend!!

don't forget to stay cool!

xoxo,
l.k

one last monday

one last monday

happy ( is it really? ) monday everyone!!!

i'd like to start off by saying that as of today, i have three and a half days left of high school. THREE AND A HALF DAYS. like, wow. just wow.

on another note, how was everyone's weekend? mine was awesome. friday wasn't so bright, (there are reasons that i'd prefer not to mention). other than a vast majority of friday, i got my very first spray tan--which was a very funny experience just because i didn't know what to expect. saturday i got my hair done (highlights and all), and later in the day i met my friends to take pictures for prom!!! and then yesterday, sunday, was mother's day! my family and i got to sleep in a bit, and then we surprised my mom with dunkin' donuts.

i did want to share some exciting things that are going on, or about to go on, in my life right now and i wanted to share some things i'm currently loving right now just because it's easier to talk about a bunch of different things in one post!

last week of high school
of course this tops my list! as i've mentioned before, my high school life is winding down, this is my last week and it's really bittersweet. i'm excited to be graduating and moving on with my life. i'm excited to be moving to florida and living on the beach. but i'm also sad that i'll be leaving my family and everything i've ever known. either way, i know i'll turn out okay and life is going to be an adventure.

italy
okay so in less than a week i'll be traveling to italy, and i couldn't be more excited. first off, this will be my first time traveling abroad in general. secondly, italy is such a beautiful country that i'm ecstatic to visit. i'm super happy i chose italy to be the first country i explore.

harry style's new album
last friday, harry styles released his first solo album and although it had me in tears (one direction all the way) it was honestly so good. i didn't know what to think when i first listened to his album--i was always used to hearing his voice mixed with four other voices, but i was not-so surprisingly shocked lol. style's voice sounds good solo, as much as that pains me to say, and his songs are different. seriously, go check it out.

writing for odyssey
a little while ago, i was accepted to write for odyssey, an online platform that allows "voices to be heard" no matter the voice, or the words being spoken. i was so happy to be accepted to write for this community, and it's such a wonderful opportunity to grow myself as a writer. besides, it's a suitable place to read about anything with multiple viewpoints. go check out my account here: odyssey

thinking about my future
is this an odd exciting thing in life? i think it is, lol. since i'm graduating high school and going off to college, my future is on my mind, all. the. time. honestly, though, it's exciting and makes me excited. i love thinking about my future journalism career, traveling with friends, learning new things, and so much more. thinking about my future is probably something i love daydreaming about as of right now.

i hope everyone has a momentous week!!!

xoxo,
l.k

what in carnation?

what in carnation?

happy sunday (and mother's day)!!!

i actually don't even know if the flowers on this romper are carnations, i just thought the pun was really funny and cute. on another note, i'm excited to show you this look today! i bought this romper a few weeks ago, (among many other rompers), and this is my first time wearing it. when i first put it on, i was worried it was going to be too tight in the stomach area, or just ride up in the back.

it surprisingly fit better than i expected! and just like all of my other looks, this one is fairly priced as well (s/o to target). the one thing i'm really loving about this romper is the flower print. the romper is based black, and has little pink flowers all over it with white vines.

i'm a pretty simplistic person, i prefer to not be extravagant, but the flowers aren't overwhelming. i also really like the buttoning, even though they're a pain to undo every time i need to use the restroom or take it off. the buttons go up to the top of my chest, and then the top part of the romper "fades" into a blouse-like thing. (that sentence was messy lol sorry). this romper looks nice-casual, yet is very comfortable.

this look was perfect for mother's day today. i didn't want to dress up too much, but not look nice because i know there were going to be pictures.

casual, and nice but comfortable? this is the outfit you need!!! everyone have a great week (-:
