ahhh my first makeup review! the other day i decided to post my first makeup look on instagram and today i decided to post my first makeup review here! with these type of posts i'll be reviewing different makeup products and why/why not i like them. i'll also be providing swatches and photographs! today, i'll be reviewing the sweet peach eye-shadow palette from too faced since my first makeup look was created from that palette. so let's get started!
review:
too faced has been one of my favorite makeup brands since the beginning. i love all of their products, from the better than sex mascara to the too cute eye-shadow palette. so when they came out with their sweet peach eye-shadow palette, i was siked because i had heard great things about it when it was fist launched as a limited edition item.
the sweet peach eye-shadow palette comes with 18 different shades inspired by peach (the fruit!). the colors range from light neutrals, to pinky/peachy, to warmer neutrals, and dark colors. personally, there are colors i really like and then there are colors i wouldn't miss (both purples and camo-like green or all the shades of brown). most of the mattes in this palette were very soft which kicked up powder onto my face and didn't stick to my eye very well. the mattes with sparkle also didn't have much "sparkle translate". the palette itself has a sweet fruity scent to it that i was able to smell as soon as i opened the box. it honestly smelled so good. but i don't notice any scent after i put the eye-shadows on.
i'm not going to lie, eye-shadow palettes are basically my aesthetic, but when looking at this palette, even though some of the shades are gorgeous, i'm not that impressed. that might just be my bias since i'll most likely only use some of these shades, while the others just sit there, lol.
when looking at the palette, the colors are really inspired by the colors of peach, and the pinks really represent that. the shades, although some are bright and may look like they would stand out, are "toned" very well. i love the shade "candied peach" because it accents my eyes and puts some color on my face.
but as i mentioned above, the shadows are soft and kick up powder. when i was doing my first look, the powder was kicking off into the corner of my eye and on the side of my nose. i normally love mattes, and do love these, but it sucks to have to re-do the makeup around my face because i have to wipe off excess powder. however, they do blend nicely.
the shades i really love are "nectar", "just peachy", "luscious", "peaches 'n cream" and "bellini". they show up well on the eyelid and the neutrals are good for a base. the shades i'm disappointed in are "charmed, i'm sure", "puree", "georgia", and "delectable". honestly, i just think there are a lot of warm neutrals. maybe there are more warm toned peaches that i don't know about, but these neutrals are the same. either a light tan or a dark tan. a light brown or a dark brown.
swatches:
left to right: white peach, luscious, just peachy, bless her heart, tempting, and charmed, i'm sure
as you can see, although there is color, pigmentation is low in the light colors.
left to right: nectar, cobbler, candied peach, bellini, peach pit, and delectable
also here, you can see the excess powder coming off.
left to right: peaches 'n cream, georgia, caramelized, puree, summer yum, and talk derby to me
peaches 'n cream has a lot of pigment and goes on smooth and seems to stick (that's why it's one of my favorites!!!).
overall, i really like this palette and i believe it lives up to the hype, despite all my criticism lol.
below is the first look i created with this palette:
i used candied peach, nectar, just peachy, and bellini.
